6 CANCER CENTER CAMPAIGN REPORT resource center Generously Supported by Wm. T. Robinson III, Joan & Family When Bill Robinson was diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer, Dr. Doug Flora at St. Elizabeth was the first doctor he and his wife, Joan, connected with to map out a plan for his care. Throughout the process – which took the Robinsons back and forth from St. Elizabeth to MD Anderson nearly three hours away in Mansfield, Ohio for consultation, chemotherapy, surgery and continued treatment – Dr. Flora was there. “No matter where we were, he always went out of his way to talk to us, to explain and to answer any questions,” Joan said. “He became a confidant and a good friend." Bill passed away four years ago, and Joan and her family have decided to honor his memory and Dr. Flora’s dedication to his patients through a donation in support of the Resource Center at the St. Elizabeth Cancer Center. “If our roles had been reversed, I know Bill would have spent many hours in that Resource Center,” Joan said. “Whether in his law profession or his volunteer work, Bill was busy seven days a week. He was very supportive of important things in the community. There’s no doubt that he would have done something comparable if he were here. It’s great that people will see that even though Bill’s not with us, he’s supportive of the mission we have at the Cancer Center. He’s still making an impact on the community.” A SPECIAL THANK YOU to those donors who have generously supported an Education Conference Room that was built to provide a space for education and community outreach: In Memory of Dr. Philip and Margaret L. Schworer In Memory of John P. Williams, Jr.
