24 CANCER CENTER CAMPAIGN REPORT NURSING CARE STATIONS Generously Supported by Garren and Susan Colvin Our dedicated nursing staff provide personalized attention to more than 100 patients per day. The nursing care stations give nurses the opportunity to collaborate and provide this high-quality care in a private setting. A SPECIAL THANK YOU to those donors who generously supported an Infusion Therapy Bay: Patti and Tom Dietz Joe and Rosemary Nader Kristi and Jeff Nelson The Charles and Ruth Seligman Family Foundation Bill and Jean Zeck In June 2016, Bill Zeck underwent surgery to remove a mass in his small intestine. The surgery was a success, but the resected tumor was malignant — so Bill began chemotherapy. It proved effective initially, but just six months after his last treatment, the cancer had returned. Bill’s oncologist, Dr. Doug Flora, suggested they try something different. Having struggled with chemo’s side effects, Bill readily agreed to the novel treatment plan. “The immunotherapy immediately chased away the cancer activity,” said Bill. “And I’ve been taking it ever since, with zero side effects.” Bill and his wife, Jean, couldn’t be more pleased with the care they received at St. Elizabeth. “They were so attentive and responsive,” explained Jean. “They really were right there … for both of us.” In a show of support and gratitude, the couple has committed $25,000 to the Cancer Center. Their names will appear on one of the infusion bays where Bill receives his treatments. “Dr. Flora has been an absolute blessing. I credit him for saving my life,” said Bill. “With him and the team he has assembled, I’m confident the Cancer Center will be a marvelous addition to our community for generations to come.” infusion therapy bay
