St. Elizabeth Foundation Cancer Center Campaign Report

10 CANCER CENTER CAMPAIGN REPORTREPORT LAB Generously Supported by the Mickey Conner Family and Wilma Conner Scheben Trust Mickey Conner is passionate about improving healthcare delivery in Northern Kentucky. The Union, Ky., resident has contributed decades of board service to healthcare organizations in the community, including 10 years as a St. Elizabeth Healthcare Board of Trustee member. He and his wife, Linda, recently made a gift to the St. Elizabeth Cancer Center in honor of Mickey’s mother, Wilma Conner Scheben. The donation will support a patient exam room as well as the Center’s Lab — something they know will be used by every patient who walks through the door. “We supported the Heart & Vascular Institute when it originally opened in 2015, and we thought this would be just as important, if not more so,” said Mickey. “There is a real need to reduce cancer’s impact in Kentucky. Our hope is that, with the St. Elizabeth Cancer Center, more people in our community will be diagnosed earlier and treated more successfully, and we’ll begin to see a change in those statistics.” The Lab, named in honor of Wilma Conner Scheben, serves a high volume of patients every day. This space was made possible through the generosity of Mickey Conner, his wife Linda and their family. DEMONSTRATION KITCHEN Generously Supported by the Milburn Family Foundation As longtime supporters of St. Elizabeth Foundation and many other charitable endeavors in Northern Kentucky, the Milburn Family once again demonstrated its commitment to the community with a contribution to the St. Elizabeth Cancer Center. The gift sponsored the Center’s in-house demonstration kitchen, where patients and their families can take cooking classes and learn meal-planning tips for optimal nutrition during and after treatment. “One-stop shopping is important for everything, including healthcare. The holistic approach St. Elizabeth is taking with the Cancer Center is just phenomenal,” said Tony Milburn. “When we learned about the demonstration kitchen and how that kind of support can benefit cancer patients, we were immediately on board. This is a tremendous asset for our community.”
