If you’re a devoted football fan, it’s essential to consider that games can extend beyond 3 hours, leading to prolonged periods of sitting and indulging in snacks.
That’s why we came up with five simple – yet fun – things to do to stay up and moving during the game:
- Fitness challenge: Huffington Post has multiple fitness challenges that work whether you have a group of young adults, kids, families, fitness buffs, or yogis. If you want a fitness challenge for the commercial breaks, check out this one from Women’s Health Magazine.
- Keep food in a separate room: This tip serves two purposes: one – you won’t be able to mindlessly snack if the majority of the food is in the kitchen, far away from you; and two – you have to get up and take a little stroll to get more food, keeping you from sitting for a full three plus hours.
- Hydrate with water: Water helps you balance out the alcohol you may or may not be consuming on Sunday, and keeps you walking back to the kitchen for a refill.
- Clean: This may not be ideal if you are hosting a fairly large party, but if it’s just you and your family and you aren’t 100 percent dedicated to the game, cleaning is a great way to stay active.
- Keep your mind active: Play a game while watching the game or work on a crossword puzzle or Sudoku. Even if you are sitting, at least your mind will be active.
Staying active during the game doesn’t have to be a chore. Make it fun, and the whole family will enjoy the game and quality time together.
