Olivia and Heidi Schultz have more in common than genetics. The sisters both followed their passion to make a difference by becoming registered nurses at St. Elizabeth Healthcare.
Inspired by personal experience
Olivia’s passion for nursing started at a very early age after being diagnosed with a complete heart block. She was in and out of the hospital during her childhood and saw first-hand the passion her nurses felt for helping others.
Now, Olivia works in a transitional care unit (TCU) at St. Elizabeth Fort Thomas, where she cares for patients with heart disease. Her personal experience allows her to comfort patients and their families during emotional times.
Heidi’s personal experience caring for a friend with terminal cancer moved her to pursue a career where she could make a difference in someone’s life. She says it’s her mission to connect with patients and their families on a personal level so she can become a trusted, positive resource during a stressful time. Though her job at St. Elizabeth Edgewood requires odd hours and long days, Heidi views each day as a gift.
Treating every patient like family
Whether it’s making someone smile after an exhausting day or taking the extra time to explain a certain medication, Olivia and Heidi provide the same care to their patients as they would to their own family. They agree that getting to know their patients, to become a part of their lives, is the best part of their job.
It’s a passion they hold as tight as their sisterhood.
Happy Nurses Week, Olivia and Heidi!
