We shared events that will have fireworks in honor of the Fourth of July, but we also recognize that there may be some groups (young kids, pets, even some adults) who just don’t like the noise or need to be in bed before they start.
We recently saw a campaign from Military with PTSD in which combat veterans received yard signs warning neighbors to be cautious when lighting off fireworks this year. For those living with PTSD and their families, the Fourth can be an especially challenging night.
Here are a few local events that won’t have any fireworks, and are still fun ways to celebrate Independence Day:
Indian Hills Fourth of July Celebration
- Saturday, July 4
- Pancake breakfast starts at 7:00 a.m. with a traditional parade starting at 11:00 a.m. Other events planned for the day include a staged air fly-in display and auto extrication hosted by the Indian Hills Fire Rescue.
- Indian Hills Fire Station
Covington Neighborhoods’ Bicentennial Independence Day Parade
- Saturday, July 4
- Parade kicks off at 10:30 a.m. The route goes down Euclid to 16th Street to Russell. An after party will be held at St. Augustine.
Sisters of Notre Dame 4th of July Festival
- Saturday, July 4 from 2:00 – 7:00 p.m.
- There will be live music, a silent auction, chicken dinner and cold drinks, pony rides, bingo and other games
Anderson Township Independence Day Parade
- Saturday, July 4
- The parade begins at 10:00 a.m. with an awards presentation, community entertainment, including live music, car cruise-in and celebration at the Anderson Towne Center to follow.
Remember to be cautious when using fireworks, regardless of whether you live near a combat veteran. Take extra caution if you do spot one of these signs in your neighborhood:
If you know of any other events in the Tri-State area we missed without fireworks, let us know!
