Every night you go to bed thinking: Tomorrow’s the day I’m going to wake up and work out.
And every morning you look at your clock and hit the snooze button.
If this hits close to home, you’re not alone. Many people want to become the type of person who can wake up early and get their workout in before the rush of the rest of the day. Unfortunately, many of these same people hit snooze several times before seizing the day, and then end up feeling guilty for missing yet another morning workout.
First of all, understand that just because you can’t seem to get to the gym in the morning, that doesn’t make you a horrible person, or even a horrible gym-goer. What works for some people’s lifestyle and schedule may not be the right fit for you. There’s no reason to assume their workout regimen is better simply because it starts earlier than yours.
With that said, if you’re still looking for some motivation to roll out of bed and hit the ground running (literally), ABC News has a few worthwhile tips:
- Eat right the night before
- Have a workout buddy
- Set up your morning ahead of time
Getting up will be easier if everything is ready to go. Lay out your workout clothes, as well as your work outfit, set your coffee maker, and have breakfast or a pre-workout snack ready to go so you don’t have to think about anything other than working out.
