Love to read, but hate to work out? Book lovers everywhere: rejoice!
Buzzfeed has come out with a list of exercises you can do while reading, or at least using your favorite books. Now you can be sharper mentally and physically!
Here are our top 5:
- Page-turner push-ups: Get a book out that you’ve been dying to read and place it on the floor in front of you. The goal, do push-ups while reading as many pages as you can. When you’re done, you will be a master at multitasking.
- Character kicks: Get out a book you know really well, or have at least read before and place it on the floor in front of you. Then, say as many characters as you can while doing kickbacks for each leg. For optimum results, choose a book (or series) with a lot of memorable characters like Harry Potter.
- Page planks: Get in plank position (on your hands or elbows depending on skill level), with a book open in front of you. Hold the plank until you’ve finished an entire page. (If this feels too easy, read another page before stopping).
- Chapter curls: A twist on the classic bicep curl, use two books around the same size and bring them to your chest, just as you would a dumbbell. Repeat as many times as there are chapters in one of the books.
- Reading marathon leg raises: Lie on your side and move the top leg up and down. The movement should resemble cutting with scissors. Repeat until you finish a chapter and switch legs. Do for as long as you want – it is a marathon, after all.
