Overview

The cause of PMDD isn't clear. It's possible that hormonal changes worsen underlying mood disorders such as anxiety and depression.

Symptoms

PMDD causes extreme mood shifts that can disrupt work and damage relationships. Symptoms include extreme sadness, hopelessness, irritability, or anger, plus common PMS symptoms.
