Phimosis

Overview

Tight foreskin (phimosis) is normal in an uncircumcised child. It often goes away over time with regular, gentle retraction.

Symptoms

Phimosis may look like a rubber band of skin around the tip of the penis. If phimosis doesn't go away or causes bleeding, infection, or painful urination, a pediatric urologist should do an exam.

Treatments

Treatment might include a steroid cream or removal of the foreskin (circumcision).
