Overview
Occipital neuralgia is a severe headache that begins at the back of the neck and spreads upward.
Symptoms
Pain can be piercing and throbbing. It may affect the back of the neck, back of the head, scalp, forehead, and behind the eyes. It often affects only 1 side of the head.
Treatments
Treatments include rest, massage, and medications.
