Milia

Updated: 2023-11-16

Description

Tiny, pimple-like bumps on a baby's face.

Overview

Milia develop when tiny skin flakes become trapped in small pockets near the surface of the skin. Although milia can develop at any age, they're most common among newborns.

Symptoms

The tiny, white bumps most commonly appear on a baby's nose, chin, or cheeks.

Treatments

Milia can't be prevented, but they disappear on their own within a few weeks. No medical treatment is needed.
