Overview

Liver cancer begins in the liver, which sits in the upper right part of the belly. The most common type of liver cancer is hepatocellular carcinoma.

Symptoms

Symptoms are uncommon in the early stages of liver cancer. Later, some symptoms include weight loss, upper abdominal pain, and yellowing of the skin and the whites of the eyes.

Treatments

Treatments may include surgery, liver transplant, and treatments that use heat or cold to hurt the cancer cells. Other options might include radiation therapy and treatment with medicines, such as chemotherapy, targeted therapy and immunotherapy.
