Bleeding inside the body, particularly in the chest or belly cavities, or into muscles.
When to seek immediate medical care
Seek emergency help if:
- Bleeding from a body opening, such as the ear, mouth, nose or anus.
- Vomiting or coughing up blood.
- Passing black or bloody stools.
- Shock, indicated by a rapid, weak pulse; pale skin; sweating; rapid breathing; and decreased alertness.
