One morning a year, the Coast Guard closes the Ohio to power boats and barges so more than 1,500 people can safely participate in Paddlefest, America’s largest paddling trip.
The new course starts at Schmidt Field in Cincinnati’s East End and ends 8.9 miles downstream at Gilday Riverside Park. Paddle under six bridges, get a unique view of the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky skylines, and relax at Covington’s Half Way Celebration. Then, party at the Finish Line Festival with live music, food trucks, refreshments and a variety of vendors. A shuttle bus will take you back to Schmidt Recreation Complex when you’re done.
Why Paddlefest?
Paddlefest benefits the Outdoor Adventure Clubs of Great Cincinnati, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization working in 20 area high schools to get urban teens out in nature.
