Any golfer can relate with how Kathleen Eilerman felt about her hip pain—it was something she could deal with later when she wasn’t golfing as much. Her hip got so painful she thought maybe a replacement could improve her game, or at least let her enjoy it more.

“I have been golfing for 12 years, and I enjoy it,” says Kathleen. “I had arthritis in my right hip, and I had put surgery off for quite a while.”

Kathleen did what any golfer would do—waited until after golf season to schedule her surgery. Dr. Matthew Hummel, an affiliated orthopaedic surgeon with OrthoCincy Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine, who performs surgery at St. Elizabeth Healthcare, scheduled her surgery for November of that year.

Kathleen expresses, “St. Elizabeth was right there for me when I needed them the most.”
