A new program in two Northern Kentucky cities aims to reduce avoidable trips to the emergency department and inpatient hospital stays for adults with certain chronic diseases.

In recognition of its outstanding patient safety, St. Elizabeth Healthcare's four eligible hospitals – St. Elizabeth Dearborn, Edgewood, Florence and Ft. Thomas – have received the highest possible grade, an “A,” for patient safety from The Leapfrog Group’s Fall 2024 National Hospital Safety Grades.

Luann Beeson was the 500th lung cancer discovered through St. Elizabeth’s Lung Cancer Screening Program, the early detection program championed by Dr. Michael Gieske who says early detection is the key to almost “no deaths” from lung cancer.

St. Elizabeth Healthcare committed $1 million to provide scholarships for students in their junior or senior year of study in nursing, radiologic science and respiratory care.
