Hospice

Getting the best Hospice care doesn’t have to mean leaving the Northern Kentucky area. The St. Elizabeth Hospice Team is right here when you need us most, so you can receive high-quality, compassionate care close to home.

Hospice is About Living

St. Elizabeth Hospice is about more than just care for the dying. Hospice and Palliative Care can make more meaningful moments possible by focusing on whole-person care. It is about helping individuals and their loved ones to live well in accordance with their beliefs, values and personal needs.

Hospice care focuses on the pain, symptoms, and stress of a terminal illness. Hospice care is provided by an interdisciplinary team overseen by Board-certified Hospice and Palliative Care physicians. This team works directly with the patient, their family members and caregivers, to provide care for the whole person in mind, body and spirit.

Hospice care is often confused with Palliative Care. Hospice is just one part or layer of Palliative Care and is only applicable in the final stages of life. Learn more about the St. Elizabeth Palliative Care program.

Where is Hospice Located?

Hospice is not a place. Hospice care may be provided in any setting whether it be a person’s home, nursing home, assisted living facility, or inpatient hospital.

If a patient’s care needs are too complex for home care, we can provide care at a St. Elizabeth hospital or our dedicated, Hospice Inpatient Facility located in Northern Kentucky.

St. Elizabeth Hospice also provides services which support patients and caregivers in their home. Our highly trained nursing staff and interdisciplinary team provide specialized care wherever you call home.

What if I or a Loved One aren’t ready for Hospice?

The ways that a person and their loved ones experience and adapt to the final stages of a terminal illness are unique to their values and life experiences. Choosing Hospice care can be a deeply personal and emotional decision for both the patient and their loved one.

Our Hospice Providers, Care Coordinators and staff can help with this transition and we are right here when you need us most.  Hospice seeks to help a person live well for as long as possible by caring for the whole person. This means that our Hospice Care Team will address more than just physical needs. Our team provides emotional, spiritual and practical support for the patient, caregiver and family. We can also assist with Advance Directive planning, and help loved ones through the grieving process after a loss.
