Updated: 2024-06-01

To make this flavoring even lower in sodium, leave out the salt.

Serves 28
  • 3 tablespoons chili powder
  • 5 teaspoons paprika
  • 4 1/2 teaspoons cumin
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons corn starch

Mix ingredients together. Divide equally among 4 airtight containers.

To use the taco seasoning mix, in a nonstick skillet, cook 1 pound of lean hamburger or diced chicken breast. Drain excess fat.

Add 3/4 cup water to the skillet. Bring to a boil.

Add seasoning mix by teaspoons until desired taste is reached.

Lower heat and simmer, uncovered, for 10 minutes or until liquid is reduced.
