Updated: 2015-08-22

To make this seasoning mix even lower in sodium, omit the salt.

Serves 25
  • 3 tablespoons chili powder
  • 5 teaspoons paprika
  • 4 1/2 teaspoons cumin
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons corn starch

Mix ingredients together. Divide equally among 4 plastic bags. Store bags in an airtight container.

To make taco filling:

Cook 1 pound of lean hamburger or diced chicken breast in a nonstick skillet. Drain excess fat.

Add 3/4 cup water. Bring to a boil. Add seasoning mix by teaspoons until desired taste is reached. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, for 10 minutes or until liquid is reduced.
