Overview

Sarcoma is a general term that covers many types of cancers that happen in the bones and soft tissues. Soft tissues include the muscles, fat, blood vessels, nerves, tendons and other connective tissues. More than 70 types of sarcoma exist.

Symptoms

Symptoms depend on the part of the body affected. General symptoms of sarcoma include pain and swelling around the cancer. Sarcoma in the bones can cause a broken bone. Sarcoma in the abdomen can cause abdominal pain.

Treatment

Treatment may include surgery, radiation and chemotherapy.
