Overview

Ringworm is a highly contagious fungal infection of the skin and scalp. Ringworm of the scalp is common in children. All ringworm is spread by skin-to-skin contact or by touching an infected animal or object.

Symptoms

It's typically scaly and may be inflamed and itchy. On the scalp it may cause bald patches.

Treatments

It's treated with antifungal medicines.
