Overview
People with neutropenia have a higher risk of infections, especially those caused by germs called bacteria. Many health conditions and treatments can cause neutropenia.
Symptoms
Neutropenia doesn't cause clear symptoms. People often learn they have it when they get the results of blood tests done for other reasons.
Treatments
People who have neutropenia are vulnerable to infections. To reduce the risk of infection, stay up to date on vaccinations, avoid large crowds, and wash hands regularly and thoroughly.
