Overview

Multiple myeloma is cancer of the plasma cells, a type of white blood cell in the bone marrow. A group of plasma cells becomes cancerous and multiplies. The disease can damage the bones, immune system, kidneys, and red blood cell count.

Symptoms

There might be no symptoms at first. When they happen, symptoms include bone pain, feeling very tired and more frequent infections.

Treatments

Treatments include medications, chemotherapy, corticosteroids, radiation, or a stem cell transplant.
