Overview

Dermatitis herpetiformis is an off-and-on itchy skin rash made up of small blisters and bumps.

The exact cause isn't known. Genetics, gluten sensitivity, and disorders in which the immune system attacks healthy cells (autoimmune disorders) may play a role.

Treatments

Antibiotics and a gluten-free diet are treatments.
