Family Medicine Residency
A Great Beginning for Hundreds of Family Physicians
Like any good physician, the longstanding Family Medicine Residency program at St. Elizabeth healthcare is focused on outcomes. And our success is obvious. Since our program began in 1974, every single one of our 230 graduates has entered the practice of his or her choosing, from practices in isolated rural Alaska to a metropolitan group practice.
Our graduates know their medicine, too. In fact, 99.2 percent of them pass the Family Medicine Board on their first attempt. Plus, they’re exceptionally confident and capable physicians with outstanding clinical experience allowing them to transition seamlessly into the practice setting of their choice.
As a result of all this, our graduates have become highly sought. In fact, our residency is centrally located to more than 50 family physician practices in greater Cincinnati. Consistently, our graduates are preferentially recruited by many of these thriving practices.
A Program with Plenty of One-on-One Experience
We are a community-based, unopposed residency program, where you’ll work one-on-one with family physicians and other faculty specialists of our medical staff, as well as those from Cincinnati Children's Hospital and the University of Cincinnati. You will also have the opportunity to work one-on-one with all specialties at St Elizabeth Healthcare, where our residents are respected, integral members of the medical staff.
The goal of our program is to maximize your clinical experience in a balanced manner. That’s why we consider the lifestyle of you and your family when we plan your residency experience. In your first year, you’ll have no overnight, in-house call. As you progress through your residency training, we are committed to providing you with challenging opportunities to enable you to achieve your high expectations.
