Volunteer Spotlight: Adriana Albarran
Transforming a childhood dream into a mission, Adriana turned her challenging health episode into motivation. A nine-year old’s ambitious vision, blossomed after her experience with dedicated doctors in Venezuela. Now, that inspiration fuels her journey to becoming a doctor herself.
“As a child I saw firsthand the horrible conditions of the hospital in Venezula due to the political and economic conditions there. I knew in my heart that I would return one day and help other children and families that so desperately need medical care.”
Two years ago, Adriana’s family moved to the United States. She taught herself English while attending high school and taking college classes at NKU. She began volunteering at St. Elizabeth in January and has since taken part in the M.O.O.N. Program, a shadowing physician and provider program, and is a current Service Intern where she rotates in five different departments across St. Elizabeth.
During Hispanic Heritage Month, we celebrate Adriana and her desire to pursue a career in medicine so that she can serve others in need. “I am so proud of my heritage, and I am proud to make a positive impact on people going through challenging situations.”
We look forward to connecting with you!
