Charles M. Bernstein, M.D.
serves as the Medical Director for St. Elizabeth Palliative Care. He earned his bachelor of science in biology and psychology from Union College. He also earned his doctor of dental surgery from Indiana University, School of Dentistry; and his medical degree from the Medical College of Ohio located in Toledo.
Dr. Bernstein completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis, IN from 1992-1995 and his fellowship in Hospice and Palliative Medicine at Alive Hospice/Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN from 2003-2004.
Dr. Bernstein holds certifications from the National Board of Medical Examiners, the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. He is actively involved in the American College of Physicians and the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine. Additionally, he is also currently serving as a member of St. Elizabeth Healthcare’s Ethics and Physicians’ Health committees.
currently serves as a Nurse Practitioner for St. Elizabeth Palliative Care. She is a graduate of Thomas More College where she earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing. She has also earned her master’s degree in nursing from Northern Kentucky University with a dual focus in Adults and Geriatrics. She holds her Nurse Practitioner Certification through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
Prior to joining St. Elizabeth Palliative Care, Ms. Stephens worked in Hospice, Cardiology and Congestive Heart Failure.
Outside of work, Ms. Stephens enjoys traveling with her family. She is also very active in her community including foster care and foster care mentorship for the state of Kentucky.
serves as the Palliative Care Social Worker. She is a graduate of the University of Kentucky where she earned her master's degree in Social Work. Her undergraduate studies are in social work and business.
Sarah is licensed in both Kentucky and Ohio as a Clinical Social Worker. She is currently working toward obtaining her licensed clinical social work (LCSW) in the state of Kentucky to provide counseling services.
As part of the Palliative Care team Sarah offers psychosocial support and supportive counseling to patients and their families. She takes pride in being present and supportive to patients and families in their time of need. Her background is in hospice care, home health and research.
