At St. Elizabeth Healthcare, our Palliative Cancer Care Clinic helps patients and their families deal with every aspect of cancer and cancer treatment. Services for Cancer Patients and Their Families Palliative care can bring relief and comfort at every stage of cancer. Our palliative care services offer options for treating pain and other distressing symptoms associated with cancer and cancer treatment. Our services cover all aspects of dealing with cancer, such as depression, sleep disturbances, family relationships and more. We work closely and collaboratively with our patient’s oncology physicians to address their individual needs and communicate effectively. Patients will continue to receive cancer treatments from their oncologist while simultaneously receiving support and care at our Palliative Cancer Care Clinic. This collaborative approach puts patients at the center of care with specific focus on reducing suffering and increasing quality of life. Visiting the Clinic When patients first come to the clinic, they will meet with our Nurse Navigator who will review their medical records and talk about their comfort level and goals. We use evidence-based screening tools and questionnaires in our assessment to help determine the right care for each patient. Based on the patient’s individual needs, we will then refer them to the specific caregivers who can provide medical care, psychosocial, spiritual and emotional support. Patients may continue to receive follow-up palliative care consultations at the clinic to ensure they are receiving the care they need.
