St. Elizabeth Healthcare Women’s Heart Program

Did you know that more women die from heart disease than any other cause?

Heart disease is the number one killer of women today. In fact, one in every three women is affected by this pervasive and often devastating illness. This is a primary health concern for all women today.

The St. Elizabeth Women’s Heart Program can help patients determine where they stand in relation to heart disease. And, should a patient need preventive or other treatment, St. Elizabeth can offer the very best medical experts in the region.

The St. Elizabeth Women’s Heart Program provides comprehensive women’s cardiac risk prevention and screening services in a spa-like, convenient setting. The program offers:

  • Personalized cardiac risk assessment and counseling
  • Individual sessions with experts including women’s cardiac nurses and nurse practitioners, exercise and nutrition
  • Cardiac screening, electrocardiogram (EKG),labs, vascular ultrasound and risk evaluation
  • Educational and support activities and programs
  • Resource materials to help women understand and reduce their risk of heart disease
  • Ongoing patient contact and support

Our personalized cardiac risk assessment includes:

  • Lipid profile (cholesterol, triglycerides)/glucose and HgbA1c
  • Cardiac risk profile
  • Consultation with a registered nurse
  • Electrocardiogram (EKG)
  • Ankle brachial index
  • Blood pressure and heart rate
  • Body mass index and percent body fat

Women and men may have differentsymptoms of a heart attack.

Learn to recognize the symptoms of a heart attack in women. Symptoms include:

  • Shortness of breath
  • Nausea/vomiting
  • Cold sweats and/or feelings of anxiety
  • Chest pain
  • Feeling lightheaded, unexplained weakness, fatigue or dizziness

If you experience these symptoms, call 911 or seek Emergency care or call your physicianright away. Every minute counts!
