As a newbie to Greater Cincinnati, I’ve enlisted my significant other to explore our region ““ one hike at a time. So far, we’ve visited Mt. Airy Forest and Withrow Nature Preserve.
This week, we traveled north to Caesar Creek State Park, one of Ohio’s 83 state parks. We chose to tackle the Caesar’s Trace hike along Caesar Creek, near the Caesar Creek Gorge State Nature Preserve (a subsection of the state park) and a section of the Little Miami Scenic Bike Trail.
What you need to know before your hike
Caesar’s Trace is a two-mile moderate loop. Avoid bringing strollers or wheelchairs on this hike.
The path itself is set along the creek bank, with great views of the high water that accumulated from our many rainy summer days. Despite those recent rains, it was not extremely muddy (save a couple sections). Most of the spots where we expected mud had a rocky layer for firmer footing.
Word to the wise – there are no restrooms in the parking lot at the trail head, so go before you get in the car. Once you’ve parked in the lot off Corwin Road, the hike will be straight ahead and is extremely well-marked.
The two-mile winding path will likely take you between 60 and 90 minutes.
If you try it, let us know how it goes!
