Micropenis

Updated: 2024-05-08

Description

A penis that is much smaller than average.

Overview

Micropenis usually is found at birth or during early childhood. Most often, it's caused by conditions that affect hormone levels. Sometimes it's due to issues in the penis itself.

Symptoms

The main symptom of micropenis is having a penis that is much smaller than average in length when gently stretched. Often, the testicles are small too. But the structure of the penis is regular.

Treatments

Micropenis treatment for young children can include medicine to boost low levels of hormones such as testosterone. Less often, surgery to change gender is a treatment option. Some adults choose to get surgery to lengthen the penis.
