Monday Night Breastfeeding Class - 2013

Taught by a Certified Lactation Consultant/counselor, this class offers in-depth preparation for breastfeeding.  Free to mothers attending Basic childbirth classes (included in week 4 of the series), Pre-natal In A Day and Young Mother Class.  Labor partners are strongly encouraged to attend.  Please bring a doll resembling the size of a newborn with you to class.

Thursday Night Breastfeeding Class- 2013

Taught by a Certified Lactation Consultant/ counselor, this class offers in -depth preparation for breastfeeding mothers undecided about their choice for infant feeding. Recommended for all first time mothers as well as mothers undecided about their choice for infant feeding. FREE to mothers attending childbirth classes, including the Pre-Natal in a Day. Labor partners are strongly encouraged to attend. NOTE: Working mothers may stay after class for 15 minutes of special instruction on continuing breastfeeding while on the job.

Discover the St. Elizabeth difference by giving birth at the Family Birth Place, a "Baby Friendly Hospital."  Our tour includes learning about Family Centered Maternity Care, viewing the LDRP's (Labor, Delivery, Recovery and Postpartum suites), and viewing the Special Care Nursery. 
This tour is INCLUDED in the Pre-Natal in A Day class, Basic Childbirth class, Young Mothers Basic class and Refresher class.



Monday Night Basic Childbirth Class- 2013

Expectant couples learn about essential exercises, nutrition, breathing techniques, relaxation and massage.  Covers third trimester concerns of pregnancy, comfort measures and coping tools for labor and delivery, positions for the first and second stages of labor, the role of the labor partner, newborn and post-partum adjustment.
A tour of The Family Birthplace, Infant Care and Breastfeeding are included in this series. 
Feel free to bring snacks or drinks to class and dress comfortably.

Monday Night Infant Care Class - 2013

Expectant parents learn the basics of infant care.  Topics include bathing, diapering, skin care, playtime, crying and illnesses.  Hands on practice and questions/answers on any topic of infant care/concerns.  If you are attending a Basic Childbirth Education class, this material will be covered on Week 5 of your series.

Bring a baby doll resembling the size of a newborn to class. Bring your Gift of Motherhood Book.  If you have not received it, one will be given to you at class.

Monday Night Refresher Class - 2013

Brings couples up to date on delivery at The Family Birth Pace.  Breathing techniques, relaxation, massage, comfort measures, coping tools and positions for labor and delivery are covered.  A tour is included on the second night of class.

Mother To Daughter II - The Next Step - 2013

Appropriate ages: 12 - 14.  Designed as a follow up for the Mother to Daughter I class.  This class will discuss sexuality in moral and value based setting in order to allow frank and open communication between mother and daughter.

Mother/Daughter Class I - 2013

Appropriate ages: 9-12.  Classes offered monthly.  Designed to open communication between mothers and daughters regarding puberty.  Discussion includes physical and emothional changes of girls during adolescence.

Parent To Son - 2013
Aug 20, 2013
Appropriate ages 9 - 12.  Designed to open communication between a mother/father and son.  Discussion includes emotional and physical changes of boys during adolescence.

SafeSitter - 2013

SafeSitter is a program for girls and boys age 11-13 that teaches adolescents how to handle emergencies when caring for younger children.  Topics include safety and security precautions, child development and age appropriate activities and the business aspect of babysitting.  Each student receives a manual with all the information covered in class.

This class will help update grandparents on all the latest child care developments.  We will discuss bathing, feeding, car safety, SIDS and much more.  Perfect for grandparents who will be caring for their grandchildren. We look forward to seeing you on 6/29/13.  We will notify you a week prior of the correct room for the class.

Sunday Big Brother/Big Sister Class - 2013

This exciting class prepares children for the arrival of a new brother or sister.  Designed for ages 3-10.  Discover how to diaper and hold a baby.  Videos are shown dealing with sibling rivalry and the adjustment of a new baby.  A t-shirt, button and certificate will be provided.  Your child will take a brief tour of the Family Birth Place during non restrictive flu months.  Refreshments are provided.  Please bring a doll with you to class.
