 St. Elizabeth Healthcare is now offering an online prepared childbirth class to offer you flexibility and convenience from your home. This interactive eLearning program helps you to prepare for your baby’s birth. It is a great alternative for parents who cannot attend traditional classes due to bed rest, work schedules or time constraints. To view a demo, please click here and select the class from the list below.

Taught by a Certified Lactation Consultant/counselor, this class offers in-depth preparation for breastfeeding.  Free to mothers attending Basic childbirth classes (included in week 4 of the series), Pre-natal In A Day and Young Mother Class.  Labor partners are strongly encouraged to attend.  Please bring a doll resembling the size of a newborn with you to class.

Thursday Night Breastfeeding Class- 2014

Taught by a Certified Lactation Consultant/ counselor, this class offers in -depth preparation for breastfeeding mothers undecided about their choice for infant feeding. Recommended for all first time mothers as well as mothers undecided about their choice for infant feeding. FREE to mothers attending childbirth classes, including the Pre-Natal in a Day. Labor partners are strongly encouraged to attend. NOTE: Working mothers may stay after class for 15 minutes of special instruction on continuing breastfeeding while on the job.

Infant Care Class 2015

Expectant parents learn the basics of infant care.  Topics include bathing, diapering, skin care, playtime, crying and illnesses.  Hands on practice and answers on any infant care concerns.  New SIDS guidelines are reviewed as well as how to rescue a choking infant and child.  Please bring a baby doll to class with you.

Expectant couples learn about essential exercises, nutrition, breathing techniques, relaxation and massage.  Covers third trimester concerns of pregnancy, comfort measures and coping tools for labor and delivery, positions for the first and second stages of labor, the role of the labor partner, newborn and post-partum adjustment.
A tour of The Family Birthplace, Infant Care and Breastfeeding are included in this series. 
Feel free to bring snacks or drinks to class and dress comfortably.

Wednesday Night Refresher Class 2014

Brings couples up-to-date on delivery.  Breathing techniques/relaxation, massage comfort measures and coping tools are covered.  A tour is included on the second night of class. 

Dress comfortably.  Feel free to bring a drink/snack for yourself.  Week one, bring two pillows and a small blanket or yoga mat.  Bring your Gift of Motherhood or Another Time Around Book.  If you have not received it, one will be given to you at class.

Mother To Daughter II - The Next Step - 2015

Appropriate ages: 12 - 14.  Designed as a follow up for the Mother to Daughter I class.  This class discusses sexuality in a moral, value and Christian based setting in order to encourage open communication between mothers and their daughters.  The topics of discussion include: female and male anatomy; intercouse; fertilization; pregnancy and birth: values of marriage before sex.  The second half of the class includes topics of STD's, including AIDS and HPV,  with an explanation of the HPV vaccine; brief definitions of pornography, homosexuality and oral sex; what is sexting; sexual abuse; slang and peer pressure.  Handouts are given.

Appropriate ages: 9-12.  Classes offered monthly.  Designed to open communication between mothers and daughters regarding puberty.  Discussion includes physical and emothional changes of girls during adolescence.

Appropriate ages: 9-12.  Classes offered monthly.  Designed to open communication between mothers and daughters regarding puberty.  Discussion includes physical and emothional changes of girls during adolescence.

Parent To Son - 2015

Appropriate ages 9 - 12.  Designed to encourage open communication between parents and sons regarding puberty in a Christian based setting.  The topics of discussion include male anatomy; physical changes of puberty, including growth, hair and voice changes; emotional changes; what is a wet dream, an erection and why does this happen; changes in sweat and oil glands; the need for healthy lifestyle during adolescence.  The class ends with a 16 minute video that reinforces what was discussed during class.  Handouts are given to parents.  A booklet is given to sons.

SafeSitter - 2015

SafeSitter is a program for girls and boys age 11-13 that teaches adolescents how to handle emergencies when caring for younger children.  Topics include safety and security precautions, child development and age appropriate activities and the business aspect of babysitting.  Each student receives a manual with all the information covered in class.

Sunday Big Brother/Big Sister Class - 2014

This exciting class prepares children for the arrival of a new brother or sister.  Designed for ages 3-10.  Discover how to diaper and hold a baby.  Videos are shown dealing with sibling rivalry and the adjustment of a new baby.  A t-shirt, button and certificate will be provided.  Your child will take a brief tour of the Family Birth Place during non restrictive flu months.  Refreshments are provided.  Please bring a doll with you to class.

The Gift of Motherhood Childbirth Education on the Internet (eLearning) Program is an alternative for those who cannot attend a conventional prepared childbirth class due to bed rest, scheduling conflicts or time constraints. While we feel the best childbirth education takes place in the classroom here at St. Elizabeth Healthcare, we are pleased to offer another option for those who cannot attend the traditional class. The program is an interactive, web-based program that includes animated illustrations, videos, voice-overs and interactive activities. It is recommended that the program be viewed by the mother and her birth partner during the second trimester (4-5) months.

Participants are encouraged to register for the Tour of the Family Birth Place, Infant Care and Breastfeeding classes.

The fee is $60 per registration code.
